off The Bench
An opportunity for young people to find their next positive step.
Off the Bench is a fantastic initiative for young people aged 16-24.
Thanks to funding from the Scottish Government’s CashBack scheme, our charity is running a 12-week programme for young adults who are looking for a fresh start to build a better path going forward.
Off the Bench is held within Falkirk Stadium, the home of Falkirk FC. One day a week young people will attend courses at the Stadium, these will include class time and physical activity/football.
There is a strong focus on delivering certificate-based courses which will include the Scottish FA Level 1.1 Coaching badge, Sports Leader Award, Approach Saltire Award and SQA Employability qualifications (SCQF Level 4).
To attend this programme, participants:
- Aged between 16-24 years
- Are not in education, employment or training
- Are yet to identify their next positive step
- Are interested in football or physical activity and making a difference in their local community

Falkirk Foundation have ran 4 successful courses throughout 2021/22 and have successfully managed to deliver to over 75 participants through these courses. 85% of these people went onto positive destinations and some have even found work and volunteer opportunities here at Falkirk Foundation.
We will be running more Off the Bench courses in 2023/24 for young people aged 16-24.
