Falkirk Foundation and Falkirk FC Extend Free Match Ticket Programme for Local Carers into Third Season

The Falkirk Foundation, in partnership with Falkirk Football Club, is proud to announce the continuation of the Tickets for Carers initiative for the 2025–26 Premiership season.

Now entering its third year, the programme works with the Falkirk and Clackmannanshire Carers Centre to offer unpaid carers and their family’s free tickets to Falkirk FC home matches. As part of the experience, Falkirk Foundation will also provide a complimentary hot drink and pie voucher at each game.

The initiative gives local carers the chance to take a well-earned break from their responsibilities, enjoy time with family or friends, and be part of the match-day atmosphere at the Falkirk Stadium.

Last season, dozens of carers shared how much the scheme has meant to them. For some, it provided their first chance to attend a live football game. For others, it became a regular outing that made a real difference to their mental wellbeing.

Steven, a local carer, explained how the programme changed his life. After two years caring for his wife who has Parkinson’s Disease, he found himself increasingly isolated. Attending his first Falkirk match last October gave him a new outlet and a way to meet others. “I loved the atmosphere, the crowd, and the drums it really lifted me. I could switch off and not worry for a while the pie and Bovril were good too! If I’m honest, I enjoyed the football so much that I’m really missing it now the season is over.” Steven has since purchased his own season ticket and is looking forward to the Premiership campaign.

Other carers shared similar experiences:

It gave me time with my daughter and grandson, something I rarely get. It was fabulous to spend some quality time together.”

“My husband has Alzheimer’s. Going to the football brought back happy memories of watching Falkirk at Brockville. We both really appreciated the hot drink and macaroni pie.”

“Thank you for making this possible. My son absolutely loved his first football game. We wouldn’t have been able to go without this help.”

The programme has become an important part of the Foundation and the football club’s work to support the local community. By providing free tickets, refreshments, and a welcoming environment, it helps carers reconnect with others and enjoy some much-needed time away from their caring role.

Carers make an incredible contribution to our communities, often quietly and with little fanfare. We’re proud to continue the Tickets for Carers programme into its third season. It’s about creating moments of joy, offering a break from daily pressures, and showing our carers that they’re valued. The feedback we’ve had shows how much this means to people. I’d also like to thank Falkirk Football Club for their continued support, this initiative wouldn’t be possible without them.Derek Allison, CEO of the Falkirk Foundation
